i am totally stuffed in the last 10days!
this one is one of the latest felted brooches.it was sold in the early morning last saturday!
there will be more in a few weeks!!
at glebe market, one of the stall holders i made friends with there gave me such a wonderful gift.
she writes her blog- Blinking Flights. i have not got the chance to take photos of it. it was her stuffed doll made from one of the fabric she bought from me at the market. her dolls are so lovely and make people smile!
then, luckily, i sold some brooches i made in the last 10 days. they were felted and embroidered brooches what i meant to work on much earlier...i made the base of them using some wool fibre and prefelt....(needle felting is one of techniques i used initially.) but i never wetfelted them to make them stronger to embroidered afterward. finally, i did finish wet-felting and i could do some decorating job on them.
well, it is still my first projects mixing different kinds of fabrics and fibers for making brooches. so far, it is fun to learn and find out some positives and negatives by doing them. i am pretty happy that i could get the texture by mixing different fabric and colours.
other than that, i also made some felted balls and made some hairponies and clips!! they will be at a few other places other than glebe market. one will definitely be at SORA hair salon in surry hills.

GLEBE market

already NOVEMBER!
i have been making felted balls and beads...i have make needle felted ones but they were not strong enough to make hair accessories...so i waited till i came back to sydney from japan.
in last 7days, i was glued in front of my desk to do my assignment at school, then, between my study, i was at the kitchen to do wet-felting all those prefelted balls to strengthen into a parmanent felted balls!
the weather got so hot and humid on 3rd. it was perfect for felted balls to dry completely!!
(i have not got photos yet but they should be taken by friday. then, they will be at the market.)
I will be at GLEBE MARKET every saturday on november!
(if the weather is dreadful, i will put it off but usually i will have an announcement.)
if you wanna make sure whether i am there or not, please send me an email before friday.

shop in japan no.2 - SEKAIDO

sekaido
3-1-1 shinjyuku, shinjyuku-ku, tokyo
located closed to shinjyuku JR station...but closer to shinjyuku 3chome tokyo metro station (exit C8) .
credit cards are accepted.
my love of stationary and zakka...this is what proves i am japanese...!?!?
sekaido is where i really really wanted to go to get some nice cute japanese stationary to stock up my zakka collections...everything in sydney is basically 2 or 3 times as expensive as what i can buy there...
i purchased basic stationary items such as label stickers for my market stalls or handmade items. then, i went crazy to get some postcards, letter sets...and i found one of the most sophisticated and minimal diary other than moleskine books. it is called MDnotebook...it only costs 840yen...! if you need a cover, there will be book covers as well. it starts from december 2009! this book is so simple that you can use any ways you like! so i decorated with japanese masking tape...so much fun!
this shop is not only for stationary but also office supplies and art supplies...i am sure you will be able to find something you need!

shop in japan no.1 - CUSHU CUSYU

cushu cusyu
1-31-16 ebusunishi, shibuya-ku, tokyo
open: 11:00-19:00
closed: monday
cushu cusyu has a good mix of imported zakka, interior decorations, furnitures as well as some selectied good designs of japan.
when i visited i found something so cute for a friend.
i cannot say what it is just in case she reads it and get an idea what she is getting...so i just write about the company. this company is from one of my most favourite countries, sweden.
plutoprodukter is a swedish based design company who designs something modern with nostalgic taste about fairtales and traditions in my opinion.
i fell in love with some of their products and i must purchase one for my friend....
when i was there (dudley redhead), i had a chat with the owner there and i was so delighted that i could take it to australia where would be summer in christmas time...she liked the idea and she kindly accepted me taking shop photos as well as she gave me a gift...she found this book for me. it is a book which collected free papers edited and published by high school student in tokyo area with a support of professional publishing company. i never heard of this wonderful idea...other than, zines which i learned about last year in australia...so it became a great gift!!!in this book, i found that there is a service at post office to make your original stamps...to send letters!! i liked the opinion and information collected from the viewpoint of teenagers.
it is called anmitsu. i am sure it will have some kind of information, if you google it.
also, i found another swedish creation...with felt...what a wonderful idea...but i forgot to take photos!!! it was a stuffed doll with a fabric face, recycled-felted sweater body and merino felted legs...so cute and so eco-friednly with beans inside the body...
this shop is the first place i visited and found something cute...this shop in japan series will continue for a while...

back in japan day 6th

lunches and dinners in between working for my family.
the gathering with some previous students from my little english workshop...when i quit to move to sydey, they were only 3 1/2 or 4...now, they are around 5. next year, they will go to school. their mothers were half from same junior high school of mine so it is lovely to see them.
besides, i met a few others with their kids whom i have known from high school or from my other jobs i used to do. so the party was pretty nice filled with laughters and lots of catching ups.
a boy called hibiki wrote me a lovely letter which were full of hiragana characters which he might have learned from his grandma or mother. (i am not sure how early it is to learn but it is rare for kids to write a full writing without skipping anything.) so his intelligence was very impressive with a very dynamic but cute drawing of me...(she had a long hair which i never had in my life. but so cute of him to try and draw it!)
here is a photo of my favourite japanese dog called "shiba". i saw him at the park while i was enjoying being under the sun. it has been pretty hot for autumn.
in a few days time, i will be moving to another city...to do other business.
i will surely miss my hometown, my family and friends.

photos...

my family has a little tea room where you can drink maccha. on the seat, they use red felted sheet which presents welcome and red is a good colour. i don't know why it is used traditionally. many tea rooms in japan has these sheets when they have tea ceremony. many is in red and the other is probably green. for me, i had it in my room as to sit...as it is pretty warm in winter other than using an electric carpet.
i used this red carpet sheet to take photos this time.
it turned out like that. all of ribbons and sewing tapes are actually samples i never had. a few stores i know are very kind to sharing a good quantity of their new lines.
i have been helping my family and some of jobs were done. for this weekend, i luckily, had a good weekend to meet my friends. i also had a chance to visit a zakka shop where i found some unique items to share with some of you whom i am going to see in a few weeks in australia.

the soloist

i bought this book, the soloist before boarding. since then, i kept reading whenever i had a time. wow, really nice story and i am interested in seeing its film.
it is a pretty good book to study a good amount of new vocabulary for me as well as it is a good book to feel happy in the end.
